Facts About Citizen Kane
Was it the greatest movie of all time?
First of all, in the interest of complete transparency, I’ve never seen Citizen Kane. If I get an opportunity to see it, I will. I know a few basics. It stars Orson Welles. Honestly, I haven’t seen a lot of Welles ’work. I know him best for his work on the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. And he was great in those.
I would probably see more of Orson’s work if he had done more westerns.
I also know the work is a quasi-biography of William Randolph Hearst. And Hearst didn’t like it. In addition, this will probably be the first of two or three pieces on Citizen Kane. There is absolutely a ton of useable information on this subject. So, here are some things you didn’t know about Citizen Cane.
1: Welles worked on the CK after his radio success with “War of the Worlds.”
Citizen Kane started a war of a different type. Mostly between William Randolph Hearst and the movie.
2: Welles was given unprecedented freedom for the project.
After Welles had shown a tremendous ability to give an audience the wrong impression, Hollywood was hot on his heels.
