10 Facts About Brooke Shields
Things have calmed down in her career.
Okay, I have to get this out of the way early on. Brooke Shields made a name for herself early on with some very controversial choices of projects. Or maybe it was her mother who made the choices. I’m pretty sure that Brooke didn’t make the decision to star as a twelve-year-old prostitute in Pretty Baby. Brooke was 11 at the time. I guess making the character 12 made the idea more palatable to some.
I found the idea of an 11-year-old doing nudes scenes and playing a prostitute disturbing. The concept of Blue Lagoon seems only marginally better. Some of us might remember her Calvin Klein commercial where she said, “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.” Honestly, her early days were seedier than I remembered. After that, here’s some other, less depressing facts about her.
1: A number of her films have been critical and box office bombs. For her work in Sahara, Brooke received a nomination for both Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actor. (Brooke with a mustache.)
