15 Facts About Bonnie and Clyde
Why were they heroes?
One interesting thing about American culture is the way it romanticizes criminals. The treatment of Bonnie and Clyde is a case in point. I admit that I don’t know a lot about the despicable duo, but what I do know doesn’t merit romanization.
And about the movie portrayal of Bonnie and Clyde. Clyde Barrow was played by Warren Beatty while Bonnie Parker was portrayed by Faye Dunaway. To put that in perspective, that would be like me be played by Brad Pitt. With that out of the way, on to some actual facts about Bonnie and Clyde.
1: Bonnie and Clyde are thought to have murdered at least nine police officers and four civilians.
But hey, according to the song “they were pretty looking people.”
2: Bonnie married Roy Thornton shortly before her 16th birthday. They never got divorced.
Bonnie and Roy never saw each other after January of 1929. Thornton ended up in prison and died tried to escape from Huntsville State Prison on October 3, 1937. Well, Bonnie definitely had a type. Bonnie and Roy just doesn’t have the same ring to it as Bonnie and Clyde.
