Is being a human Guinea pig worth it?

Cartoon by Lambert-King

As an old guy, I’m generally looking for ways to make additional money while not exerting myself too much. Of course, that’s also what I did when I was young which is one reason I’m looking for revenue streams now that I’m old. But I digress.

A while back I put in a request to see comedy writing jobs online. It seems that comedy is broader field than I realized. For example, comedy writing also must encompass warehouse work. It also seems to encompass sales and cashier work. But one career niche I hadn’t considered that much also popped up. It was medical test subject. So, what does that involve.

A look at the field of medical test subjects

I was invited to apply for clinical research studies. I don’t know which studies. I understand that in some cases you get medical treatment for free and in other cases, you actually get paid to be a test subject.

Upon reading more about this, I learned some people take part in these studies for the common good. Hmm, imagine that.

It seems that there are two groups in a medical test study. A control group and an out-of-control group. Hold on, being told the other group is called a treatment group.

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
