His going to the Bears still might not be a done deal.

After the Bears secured the overall number one pick in the upcoming NFL draft, the raging controversy in Chicago, and in a lot of NFL circles is whether the Bears would draft Caleb Williams or trade the pick and go with Justin Fields. Lately it seems that the pendulum of public opinion has swung towards the Bears drafting Williams and trading Fields.

At first, I was kind of a Justin Fields holdout, and preferred the Bears to trade the pick and get a huge haul for it. But I’ve around to liking the idea of the Bears drafting Williams.

Then came a report from Collin Cowherd that suggested Williams didn’t want to play for the Bears. Then on Friday, Cowherd reported that the Williams camp that he wasn’t anti-Bears. That helps everybody.

What if Williams doesn’t want to go to the Bears?

It’s been floated that Williams would like to play for the Commanders. He did grow up in the Washington D. C. area and playing for the Commanders new ownership might have some appeal.

So, if Williams doesn’t want to play for the Bears, he would do well to keep it between him and the Bears and not tank his trade value.

If Williams doesn’t want to play for the Bears, I think the Bears might think twice about drafting him.

Getting full value from the Commanders in a trade would help the Bears and would probably make them more likely to be willing to trade the first pick to the Commanders.

If Williams wants a challenge, he should go to the Bears

The lack of a great QB is a well-known story among Bears fans. It’s been the organization’s search for the Holy Grail. If Williams came to Chicago and could match the hype, he could own the city.

Plus, the Bears are close to being a good team. The same can’t be said for the Commanders.

For the Bears, Williams should be the only QB they consider drafting

Other college QBs have some buzz spinning around them, but I would rather have Fields than any…
