Bears Win, but Eberflus, Fields and Getsy Don’t Help Their Case

They won a game they should have won.

The Bears defeated the Arizona Cardinals Sunday by a score of 27–16, but they did little to answer the questions surrounding the team. It was a workman like performance which featured a strong running game coupled with a stout defense. However, the questions surrounding the head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterback remain.

The win improved the Bears’ record to 6–9, and the team has definitely improved, but if it’s enough to save head coach, Matt Eberflus’ job is an open question. The passing game wasn’t great, and the team continues to struggle in two-minute situations.

But Luke Getsy’s situation is even more tenuous

There seems to be a serious disconnect between the game offensive coordinator Luke Getsy wants to call, and the skill set QB, Justin Fields. possesses. Fields threw for 170 yards while throwing for one TD and one interception.

He also added to the offense by running for another 97 yards and another TD.

But what detractors will jump, with some justification, is the brutal red zone pick he threw. It was a poor decision in a number of ways.

The offense started off hot, jumping off to a 21–0 lead. And then cooled off for the rest of the game. That’s been a disconcerting tendency for the team all season.
