Bears Now More Likely to Trade Further Down in the Draft
Jalen Carter’s legal problems may jumble the NFL draft.
An arrest warrant was issued for Jalen Carter, who was projected as a top five draft pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Carter is being charged with reckless driving and racing. The charges come in conjunction with a fatal crash that killed two people in a second vehicle, Georgia offensive lineman, Devin Willock and a recruiting staff member. The fatal crash occurred on January 15, just hours after Geogia had won the National Championship.
Carter allegedly has given conflicting reports regarding his whereabouts when the fatal crash occurred. Though the charges are misdemeanors, the fact is two people died in the incident.
In addition, questions had previously been raised about Carter’s maturity. While the story will play out, and the facts will become clearer, I doubt, the Bears will use a top five pick for Carter.
