Bears End Their Season with a Thud and No Clarity

Their 17–9 loss to the Packers didn’t help Eberflus, Getsy or Fields.

The Bears were full of optimism going into their season finale against the Packers. That optimism turned to bewilderment after the Packers handed them their collective rear end in a 17–9 Packers’ win. The game wasn’t as close as the score would indicate.

Though there is some debate as to how much the outcome of the game would determine the fates of Matt Eberflus, Luke Getsy and Justin Fields, the lackluster performance of the team couldn’t have helped any of them. Of those three, head coach, Matt Eberflus seems the most likely to retain his job, though that’s not a lock.

Luke Getsy’s job seems to be in the most peril, while despite strong support from the team, Justin Fields seems destined to be traded to another quarterback hungry team. The allure of Caleb Williams will likely be too much for the Bears to pass on.

Justin Fields is the Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL.

Fields managed to go a whole season without being the beneficiary of a roughing call. That’s absolutely ridiculous. And frankly, Matt Eberflus and the Bears organization may play a part in that. The coach and team should have been screaming bloody murder about that all year.
