A “Work Wife” Can Be Costly

And why is it okay to practice bigamy on the job?

When I was still working in an office environment, I heard a term that seemed odd to me. A female worker referred to her “work husband.” No, it wasn’t a romantic relationship, but it still raised a number of questions in my mind.

How many extra “husbands” or “wives” is a person allowed to have? Assuming they aren’t in Utah.

So, for a guy, can he have his home wife, his work wife, his drinking wife and a vacation wife? If so, it sounds like a potentially expensive proposition. I know we live in an era of specialization, but that seems a little extreme.

How do you pitch the idea of a “work wife” to your “home wife?”

I’m guessing pitching the idea of work wife to your wife wife can be a difficult proposition. You really need to hone that sales pitch before making you presentation.

Maybe it would go something like:

You know dear, I know you have a full plate with all you do around here. And I know that sometimes I bring my work home with me and that makes things harder for you. So, here’s what I’m going to do. I going to take on a work wife.
