A Look at the Mailbag is Both Depressing and Enlightening
Some people have a real problem reading with any objectivity.
Okay, technically I’m talking about comments and not actual mail or email for that matter. Generally speaking, comments on Medium are generally supportive. That is not necessarily true of NewsBreak. Rather than go back and forth regarding an individual comment, I generally ignore it if it seems to be based on bile and not objectivity. What I have found interesting is what elicits the most vitriolic responses.
If you are reading this, you have probably noticed that I write a lot about celebrities and old TV shows and nostalgia. Most of the comments I get range from neutral to positive. Even a couple of stories that I received negative comments on have received more positive than negative feedback. Two stories elicited comments I found particularly interesting. They centered around Janis Joplin and “All in the Family.”
No, I don’t hate Janis Joplin
“While Janis Joplin isn’t one of my favorite singers, she was undeniably talented. She also led an interesting/turbulent life. Her music was a reflection of that life.”
That was the opening paragraph. From that some deduced I hated Janis Joplin. I also mentioned you had a promiscuous lifestyle and had issues with alcohol…
