Some questions need to be answered or at least asked.

Many of us fondly remember the old TV shows we grew up with, but beneath the pristine surface of these shows lies a bunch of unanswered questions. Let's take a look.

Gunsmoke: First of all, how did Matt Dillon string Miss Kitty along for 20 years? When it came to facing bad guys, Matt was absolutely fearless. When it came to marrying Miss, Kitty, it was a whole different thing. Near the end of Gunsmoke’s 20-year run, Matt told Kitty someday would be their time together. Really, at that point, why bother? Actually, all of Gunsmoke’s main characters were marriage-averse…

These tips may help.

It’s been almost 30 years since Johnny Carson left The Tonight Show. And he’s still considered the gold standard in talk show hosts. Since that time we’ve seen a steady decline in the quality of show hosts. How bad is it? It’s so bad, you may be able to be a talk show host. Keep these things in mind:

Be yourself. Unless you’re boring. Then be somebody else. Preferably somebody funny and/or smart. It’s probably not a good idea to be somebody that’s of a different race or gender than yourself. …

The Tokyo Olympics may be in doubt, but the Geriatric Olympics are always ongoing.

Cartoon by Lambert-Allen

Because of the coronavirus, the Tokyo Olympics are in doubt. Regardless of whether those Olympics are held, we can watch the Geriatric Olympics, which are always going on all around us. When I was young, I played a lot of sports and was fairly good at them. As I’ve gotten older, what passes for sports and athletic activity has changed. With that in mind, here are the Geriatric Olympics:

Money doesn’t always indicate stability.

Cartoon by Lambert-King

The latest fad among rich white guys is going into outer space or near outer space. It’s obvious that Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos have more money than they know what to do with. I guess a vanity license plate just doesn’t get it anymore.

In the old days, crazy rich white guys might be content with a country club membership. huge mansion and trophy wife, but no more! Today’s CRWG needs more. More recognition, more opulence, and hopefully, more adulation. We’ll consider some examples of that stuff CRWGs buy.

Nice job. When I'm not writing satire, I enjoy reading about history. I appreciate an easy to read account of Post's life.

Some things just don’t make sense.

While Wiley Post is well known among older Oklahomans, that’s not the case for people outside of Oklahoma. Just some background on Wiley, he was a noted aviator of the 1930s. He made the first around the world solo flight in 1931.

Notice anything unusual about the image of Wiley Poston in the image of him on his tombstone? That’s right, he has an eyepatch. Post lost sight in one eye as the result of an oilfield injury. Generally speaking, most pilots have vision in both eyes. …

In years gone by I used to write a “this day in history” bit for radio stations. I still peruse various references that deal with history while looking for story ideas. I recently came across information regarding Lady Jane Grey under July 19. The reference said Lady Jane Grey was deposed as Queen of England on this day in 1553. There’s so much more to the story than that.

If you’ve read my stuff, you know I usually write humor And you also probably notice, that image looks pretty grim. Well, tragedy, plus comedy equals humor. …

Lots of athletes talk about pressure. They cope with it in various ways with varying results. Frankly, I’m sick of millionaire athletes talking about pressure. Pressure is having the rent due, utilities past due, no food in the house, and a family counting on you, while you have no job. Then against that backdrop, going on an interview for a menial job. That’s pressure. How do you ace a job interview against that backdrop? Let me help.

Be honest, but not too honest. For example, at one point in my life, I was desperate…

Things just aren't the same for 007.

Cartoon by Lambert-King

These are turbulent times for law enforcement and government agencies here in the United States, as well as in England. Even flamboyant/high-profile agents like James Bond have been affected. It just won’t be the same for 007.

Concerned by the high body count Bond has piled up, MI6 has revoked James’ license to kill. Instead, he’s limited to verbally abusing enemies of the state. While Bond has a license to verbally abuse, even that has its limits. When heaping verbal abuse on his targets, Bond can’t use racial or ethnic terms.

Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson boldly go into a new marketing frontier.

Cartoon by Lambert-King

Not so long ago, the space race was between the Soviet Union and the United States. Now it seems to be between two rich guys, Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson. JFK said, when America got into the space race, we choose to go to the moon because it is hard. Bezos and Branson probably have other motivations, which we’ll talk about.

But getting back to JFK’s statement about going to the moon because it’s hard. That doesn’t that make any sense. For example, losing weight is hard. I…
