20 Odd Facts About Las Vegas
It’s not a s glamourous as it is on TV.
I’m by no means an expert on Las Vegas. I was there with my wife for a few days years ago when she was on a fam trip for her travel agent school. Plus, I don’t gamble. Still, Vegas is an interesting place.
Notice I said interesting, not glamorous. As we walked through casinos to get to our destinations, I noticed that the workers looked hard, weary, and generally unenthused.
One of the couples in the group we were with lost $800 they couldn’t afford to lose. It made for a tense trip back home. But enough of that. Here are some things you might not know about Vegas.
1: Rainfall in Vegas is less than four inches per year.
Except in certain clubs where athletes and other high rollers make it rain on a regular basis.
2: Mormon missionaries put up the first structure by non-natives in Vegas.
No. it wasn’t a casino or wedding chapel.
3: The town of St. Thomas was under Lake Mead as of 1938.
With the receding water levels of Lake Mead, the town is now at least partially visible.
