It’s my favorite baseball movie.

I watched this movie years ago when it came out in the theater and have seen it a couple of times since then. I liked it originally and it has held up well. Geena Davis and Loris Petty were strong as the leads, but some of the supporting actors were really outstanding.

Regardless of how you feel about Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell personally, they were very good in the movie. Madonna’s personal persona plays into her character of “All the Way May.” Jon Lovitz is my favorite character as the wise cracking scout.

And Tom Hanks plays the manager of the Rockford Peaches with just the right amount of humor.

But the kicker is the baseball scenes are better than I expected. Plus, I love the conclusion. But enough about my personal feelings about the movie, here are some things you might not have known about “A League of Their Own.”

1: Geena Davis’ character, Dottie was based on a left-handed hitting first baseman, Dorothy “Dottie” Kamenshek.

Actually the Dottie character was a composite character though Kamenshek was considered by many to be the best player during the existence of All-American Girls Professional Baseball…
