A lot of us have enjoyed Tom Hanks’ work for decades. He’s went from a guy known mostly for comedy to one of the most respected actors in the world. He’s a pretty well-known guy. But having said that, here are some things you might not have Tom Hanks.

1: Tom Hanks is a distant relative of Mr. Rogers.

You might remember he portrayed Mr. Rogers in the movie, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.” Hanks is also a distant relative of Abraham Lincoln. Hanks could have quite a career portraying guys he’s related to.

2: On his early days, Tom worked for peanuts.

Well, more accurately, he worked selling peanuts and soda. He was a peanut vendor for Oakland A’s games. He was robbed twice. Bases weren’t the only thing being stolen at Oakland Coliseum.

3: There is an asteroid named after Tom.

The fact that Meg Ryan also has an asteroid named after her doesn’t dimmish that fact.

4: Tom met Rita Wilson on the set of “Bosom Buddies” in 1981.
