There was a time whenever I would channel surf and go by TNT, it seemed like The Shawshank Redemption was on. And if you ask my wife, she will say I would invariably watch it. It was one of the better character studies I have seen. I mean The Shawshank Redemption, not my wife.

I haven’t seen much of Tim Robbins’ work, but I believe Shawshank is easily his best. As for Morgan Freeman, he also hits it out of the park. The supporting actors all give strong performances. making this a compelling movie. Now, on to some facts about The Shawshank Redemption.

1: The movie is based on the Stephen King novella, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.

And in keeping with the lack of women in the movie, Rita Hayword is cut out of the title.

2: The character of Red was originally written as a white Irishman named Red.

Wow, they really thought Morgan Freeman was a great actor.

3: The sewage pipe that Andy crawled through contained a mixture of water, chocolate syrup, and sawdust, not actually sewage.
