Some years back, my wife and I, along with our oldest son, vacationed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was a nice enough place to visit, but the altitude got to me, and we came home a bit early. Still, I found the terrain fascinating. However, while I wanted to move to Florida after vacationing there, that was not the case when I visited New Mexico.

In our vacationing in New Mexico, we did visit the site that served as the town for the comedy, Wild Hogs, as well as an area where a number of westerns were filmed. It was a great place to play cowboy. I had just gotten there 40 years too late. Now, here are 15 facts about New Mexico.

1: Santa Fe is the oldest state capital in the country. The city is over 400 years old.

The city is so old, it’ nearly as old as some congressmen.

2: The breakfast burrito had it’s beginning in 1975 in Santa Fe.

No wonder New Mexico is known as ‘The Land of Enchantment.”

3: In Las Cruces, it’s illegal to carry a lunchbox down the main street.

They really encourage brown bagging there.
