It’s probably not as glamourous as it’s portrayed.

I spent a few days in New Jersey years ago. The part I saw was scenic. Of course, there was a lot more to the state than what I saw. The fact is that the state, deservedly or not, is the butt of a lot of jokes. I’m thinking things like Jersey Shore didn’t help.

For a while the state’s image was somewhat tied to the then governor, Chris Christie. That being the case, the image whether it was fair or not, wasn’t always positive. But beyond that, here are some facts about New Jersey.

1: Ellis Island belongs to both New York and New Jersey. For years both states claimed ownership. In 1998 the Supreme Court ruled that New Jersey owned 83% of the island.

Well, that’s a better deal than the Indians got on Manhattan Island.

2: Newark, New Jersey is known as the “Car Theft Capital of the World.”

There is actually video game based on that. It’s called, “Gone in 30 Seconds.” Wait, being told that’s not true.

3: The state is also home of the largest concentration of diners in the world. It’s sometimes
