I know it’s a small state but isn’t part of New England.

Delaware is another state I have very little working knowledge of. The fact that it’s the second smallest state in the Union might account for part of that. Plus, the fact it doesn’t have any professional sports teams or have very many westerns set there also factors in.

So, I’m off on a journey of exploration, looking for facts about Delaware. I do know it was one of the original 13 colonies so I can build on that. So, here are some things you didn’t know about Delaware.

1: Delaware has only three counties.

So, I guess being a county commissioner is a big deal there.

2: Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States, and has gained the nickname, “The First State.”

Of course, I understand they pushed in line to do it. Well, maybe not.

3: The state is a haven for corporations. In 2021 over 90% US-based companies that went public incorporated in Delaware.

The Statue of Liberty says, “Give me your poor” but Delaware says, “Give me your well to do.”
