Davis Letterman is obviously best known for his work as a talk show host, most notably on the Late Show. And of course, he was a leading contender to succeed Johnny Carson as the host of The Tonight Show, but that didn’t work out.
In addition, David was the victim of a well-publicized extortion attempt. Obviously, there’s a lot more to David Letterman than that, so here are some facts about David Letterman.
1: David was a late-night talk show host for 33 years, surpassing his hero, Johnny Carson as the longest tenured late night talk show host.
He was the Cal Ripen Jr. of late night.
2: Letterman’s company, Worldwide Pants, produced “The Late Show,” as well as other programs.

3: David began his broadcasting career while at Ball State. He was an announcer and newscaster for WBST, the student ran radio station.
