I recently did a piece about Ma Barker and her family/gang. In the interest of fairness, I’ve decided to do some research on J Edgar Hoover. When I was a kid, Hoover’s reputation was spotless. Over the years, that has changed. With that in mind, I decided t do a deeper dive on J. Edgar. Below are some things I found.

1: Hoover couldn’t produce a birth certificate until he was 43.

That’s because none existed. Hoover was born in 1895 but his birth certificate wasn’t filed until 1938. Republicans said he was born outside the US, but Hoover produced a Hawaiian birth to squelch that talk. Hang on, being told the republican and Hawaiian part of that isn’t true.

2: When Hoover took over the FBI, he fired all the women agents.

Women weren’t hired again until after Hoover died. If Hoover wanted a woman agent, he’d put on a dress and handle the assignment himself. Hold on, being told the last part of that is completely bogus.

3: Not surprisingly, when Hoover was in high school, he debated against women’s suffrage.

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
