14 Facts About Venus

It seems like we hear about Mars all the time, but, by contrast, Venus gets short changed when it comes to getting attention. You’ve probably heard “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.” Well, that being the case, is the lack of attention Venus gets another form of sexism? To help rectify this situation, I’ve done some research to provide some much-needed information about this under-studied planet. here we go.

1: Venus is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty.

That seemed a natural choice because it’s the hottest planet in the solar system. Hang on, being told that’s not the way it went. But it’s still a good theory isn’t it. My wife says no.

2: Yes, Venus is even hotter than Mercury.

Even though Mercury is closer to the sun than Venus, Venus is still hotter. Way to overachieve Venus!

3: Venus has some strange rotation things going on.

With the exception of Venus, the rest of the planets in the solar system rotate and revolve around the sun in an anti-clockwise direction. Venus rotates anti-clockwise but rotates in a clockwise direction. Venus is actually in an inverted position. One…
