I was late to “The Office” party. But when I finally discovered it, it was one of my favorites. Steve Carell’s Michael Scott was the driving force behind the show. While Michael Scott was a deeply flawed man and manager, he was not without some redeeming characteristics.

Michael wanted his employees to love him, and generally speaking cared about his employees. I’ve worked for bosses that had far less going for them. And the cast around Steve Carell was just outstanding. So, here are some things you might not have known about The Office.

1: Jim Halpert was more than a good paper salesman. John Krasinski shot the footage of Scranton used in the opening credits.

It was also a good opportunity to prospect for paper clients.

2: Jim and Pam really did pick each other. The producers had various actors audition for different roles in different combinations.

Jenna Fischer said John Krasinski each said the other was their choice to play opposite of. The chemistry was apparent.
