13 Facts About The Princess Bride
It’s still one of my favorites.
So, is “The Princess Bride” a kids’ story, an adventure story, a love story, or a comedy? I’m not sure. It seems to be a little bit of all of those. However you categorize it, it’s still entertaining today. It is also almost universally popular among the people I know. So when I say “universally popular” it is admittedly a small universe.
1: Andre the Giant couldn’t do any heavy lifting.
Andre had just had back surgery prior to filming. If Vizzini really had fired him to hire a new giant there probably have been a lawsuit.
2: At one time Arnold Schwarzenegger was considered for the Andre the Giant role of Fezzik.
If that had happened Vizzini would have just had a really big guy, not a giant. That’s just not as impressive.
3: Bad guy, Count Rugen, played by Christopher Guest was actually stabbed in the thigh in a sword fight with Mandy Patinkin.
To my knowledge, it didn’t lead to Guest considering conversion to Judaism.
