12 Little Known Astronomical Facts

I used to enjoy astronomy. Kind of. When working on story ideas, I decided to do some stuff about our solar system and any related stuff in the field of astronomy. That includes any space related stuff that I could make fun of without a lot of thought. You know, what we call in the humor writing game, low hanging fruit. Here we go.

1: Ceres was once considered the largest asteroid but has been upgraded to dwarf planet status.

Actually, I believe Ceres prefers the term “little planet.” Ceres’s is the only dwarf planet orbiting entirely within the orbit of Neptune.

2: Vesta is the largest asteroid in our solar system.

Previously that title was held by Ceres, but when Ceres couldn’t make weight, that title was passed down to Vesta.

3: I saw Neptune referred to as the solar system’s “densest gas giant.”

Upon reflection, that doesn’t sound very complementary. Being dense and having a lot of gas sound like a big, dumb guy that eats a lot of beans.

4: The least dense planet in the solar system? That…
