Hollywood tough guy and leading man James Caan passed away at the age of 82. Caan is most remembered for his role as Sonny Corleone in the movie, “The Godfather.” Of course, Caan had other memorable roles, but he also turned down a lot of parts that could have given his career a different trajectory. In addition, Caan’s personal life was not without its quirks. So, here are some things you might not have known about James Caan.

1: Caan was heavily into martial arts.

Of course he was. It seems like all action heroes from that time frame were into martial arts. Apparently, it was part of an action hero starter kit back in the day. Bonus points to the actors who studied with Bruce Lee.

2: Though he stood only 5'9" he seemed taller.

I don’t know if he wore lifts or if it was an optical illusion, but he really did seem taller. Maybe not all 5'9"s are equal.

3: During the 70s Caan briefly lived at the Playboy Mansion.

Little known fact, the Playboy Mansion was part of the most desired mail route in the postal district. OK, that’s just a guess.
