Have you encountered these?

In the past I’ve ranted about poor customer service. Today I thought I’d get more specific about common customer service issues. It’s ironic that companies hard so much about good customer service and even give lip service to their employees about providing good customer service but then are so bad at it. Maybe you’ve had some of these thoughts about customer service issues.

1: Your call is very important to us.

Apparently not. If my call was very important to you it might be answered by a real person. Or at the very least it might result in a return call. Until that happens, no, my call isn’t very important to you.

2: Stop apologizing and do something!

“I’m sorry you had that experience.” Have you had customer service people say that to you? Have you had various levels of customer service people say that to you? And have you had those same customer service people give you the run around instead actually resolving a situation?

At that point the job position isn’t customer service, it’s company apologist.

3: Customer service people protecting their manager like Tom Brady’s offensive line protected him.

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
