10 Bizarre Scientific Experiments

Some others were just too disturbing to relate.

Cartoon by Lambert-King

When I started doing research for this piece, I was shocked by some of the experiments that have taken place over the years. Some of the low points include two-headed dogs and decapitation of various subjects.

That’s not to mention sadistic experiments conducted by Nazis. Since my aim is to entertain, and not nauseate, I won’t get into that. Determining what was too over the top was a challenge. Okay, now let’s see if we can laugh it up.

1: Tusko the elephant was given a massive dose of LSD and quickly died thereafter.

The experiment took place in the Oklahoma City Zoo. There was some question as to whether the LSD was what actually killed Tusko. But the bigger questions were what was the point, and why was it allowed to happen.

2: Experiments were carried out to create a human-ape hybrid. Dr. Il’ya Ivanov of the Soviet Union was the madman behind the experiments. He basically tried to get volunteers to carry an orangutan’s child.

It made for the worst episode of The Dating Game ever.

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
